What is the difference in these two fuses?

Hey!

I need some small fuses to protect the outputs of a PLC.

I have the fuse holders in place (40 terminal block type) .... 5 x 20

I want to limit the current to 2 amps (I am actually only going to draw less then half amp, turning a contactor on and off .. 2 amps is the rated output of the PLC contacts ... PLC manufacture recommends a "2 Amp fast acting fuse").

So I found two fuses .. both will fit .. both about the same price ... I can't see what the difference is. I do see the melting point is different on the two but I don't understand why if both are "fast acting" and both are rated at 2A..

I am sure either will work but why would I choose one over the other?

Thanks .... Mike

Basically, the cheaper one has a lower breaking capacity (35 A) at the rated voltage. The other one has 100 A breaking capacity. As you're fusing the output, I don't think your power supply is capable of delivering that value, so you're safe with 35 A breaking capacity.

Awesome ... missed that, thanks.

I am using a 24 volt 5 amp supply, that clamps if I remember at something like 5.5 amps. So this would never be a problem.

Thanks again .... Mike
