You're betting your life on "appropriate air movement". Is it fine? Probably, but there's a chance it's not fine.

Kind of related and mostly not: My wife's brother wasn't feeling well and finally got into the doctor. His hemoglobin was at 3. I give blood regularly and they test me at 15-16. If I showed a 3, they'd probably call me an ambulance. My point is the frog-in-the-frying-pan effect. My brother-in-law was scarily close to death before knowing he needed attention. That's what chronic CO exposure can also do to you.

 

Repaired another Bose Wave Music System. In the first one I replaced one capacitor in the controller section.
In the second one, there was a broken PCB trace indicated by the red arrow below.

 

My Toilet was leaking water past the stopper and the fill Float valve wasn’t set to the proper hight and was going down the overflow tube.

When my Wife finally told me about the water bill last night I was up and had one thing on my mind. Stop the damn water. lol

Not a repair but a "made"...




Sick of the prices $ 34.9999999 plus shipping plus handling plus tax plus whatever they want advertised on television for a sweeper; a discarded straight wiper in the garbage can outside a car parts store called my name... plus an orphan wood pole. Total $0. And the thing works !

 

I just replaced two wiper blades but kept the ones. I will have to try your idea!

 

I have a bucket truck lined up to replace my antenna mast and help hang the wire antennas on the needed tree supports at the far ends. Replacing 1.5" x 20' mast with 2" x 30' plus another 6' of 3/4" for the 5/8 wavelength 10 Meter vertical on top which is another 26' so it will top out over 60'. I have it laid out on sawhorses in the front yard so I can slowly get the antenna and coax work done to the mast before erecting. Currently have my 2 Meter vertical propped up in the yard so I at least am somewhat on the air. It will be moved to another mast mount to the fascia trim near the peak of the roof. Replacing off center fed multiband dipole with an Alpha Delta 10 - 40 Meter trap dipole and an Alpha Delta sloper as well hung from a bracket on the mast for center and end support. Also rehanging another sloper and longwire as well. Slow going but trying to make some progress every day. Between Hurricane Helene and the ice storm & snow the only antenna left standing was my Marine Vhf also mounted to the fascia (with blocking) near the roof peak. Be nice to get it all back up and on the radio again. Plus studying my tail off for the April FCC Extra Class license exam I've got scheduled for.

 

Toilet Clog, went to Lowes and purchased a Toilet Auger.



Worked perfectly, what ever fell into the Toilet from my wife‘s makeup shelf.

A tiller/cultivator had a crappy gasoline engine; those that never start; then installed a 12V starter motor and a battery in that black bucket. Not very impressive; Now with a shop-vac motor on it. Photo is while running, should had been a video. Works ! Am happy when sunny.

If something goes wrong, then there will be a repair. I just hope it's not a finger.

 

Repaired the 4 years ago replaced subwoofer rubber rims in my vehicle. The flexible glue lasted 4 years; trying with cyanoacrilate this time. Will see hear how long this time lasts.

I just replaced the foam rings on two 10-inch speakers. I used Goop.

 

My wife‘s Iphone, couldn’t hear calls and volume low, Turned Call Fowarding, then off again, then with the volume control turned it all the way down and backup.

Fixed It. Sometimes just turn the phone off and back on will do it. Not this time.

My GE microwave oven misbehaving; pulled from the spider webs the 'emergency' one from the basement. A 73 pound (33Kg) RadaRange RR9TA from 1983 until I find spares for the GE.
Well, the RR decided today to flicker/dim the display digits, poor contact somewhere.



Found a very complex chromed convoluted construction designed by battletank engineers. Never suspected to find a mix of screw heads as to discourage disassembly, hex positive and negative, philips, flat and even security torx to prevent control panel removal !
The front panel is touch sensitive (no buttons) like back-metallized for capacitive action and lodged tight in aluminium heat sink slots. Risky to dismantle. The microswitches are not 'micro' at all.
Resoldered reachable portions of the printed circuit. Will see how much lasts after its first 42 years...

I don't have a Wiha XLSelector, but I have other Wiha bit and driver sets—nice stuff. I have been using Wiha precision sets for decades, I have one that is about 40 years old! Back in the day (for real, to five yers ago) the sole importer of Wiha was a one-man firm who attended hamfests all over the country. I loved my Wiha System drivers...

Now, they are everywhere and cost even more in relative dollars. But it is nice to see Lowes stocking some items, and at reasonable prices. Their bits are hard to beat, only PB Swiss (sounds like a nasty sandwich) seems to do better, and Wera is a peer.

I have a Wera Bit-Check in my go-bag but it has minimal security bits so I also have a Klein set that is focused on them.

Every handyman worth his salt must have a set of security bits.

I have the little version of that, which only the ratchet and no nut drivers. It's a nice little metal box and not very expensive.

 

I have to admit I love tools nearly as much as I love using them.
