When the only SR-71 I ever worked on (diverted to our base with a blown fuel pump) took off, it punch up through a scattered light clouds and went through one of them. What was amazing was that the hole it punched in the cloud stayed there for over a minute before it filled back in completely. Guess there was no wind at that altitude. Beautiful sight to see."The Habu"
Still one of the coolest things ever, to watch one take off at Kadena and then to see the signals reports as it makes the Soviet border run as they try to track it.
