Hot here. (wherever here is). Flies don't seem to mind the heat. In fact, they're out in force. Or maybe it's just the neighbor never picks up the poop in the yard. (just to point out a few spots. Dogs are trained to poop along the fence line.

Never seen this before. Found it because of another thread where the TS was concerned whether wood is an insulator or can be conductive. After looking at several video's on Lichtenberg wood burning I happened across this plexiglass video. This is WAY cool. Just click the "Watch on Youtube" and it'll play.

Lichtenberg figures are quite cool, and generating them in plexiglass/acrylic is just as cool; you've got yourself "frozen lightning" per se. Fulgurites are similar structures that are made of fused sand around lightning, but they're generally too fragile to keep around for long.

Yeah, I've seen those featured on TV some long time ago. And yes, I'd imagine they would be pretty fragile as they are the product of intense heat and sand turning into glass. Likely very thin glass tubes. Very fragile.

Visualization of the simple relationship between the two-dimensional Fourier transform of a signal alongside it's corresponding epicyclic sums:

The graph is decimated in time. The Fourier transform is implied by the epicycles which basically represent the constituent frequencies of the signal.

I have watched loads of videos from these guys and struggle to find one video that is both engaging, and summarizes what they are doing, but I guess this is about the best one. Do yourself a favor and check out some of their videos. They're developing open source machines (extruders, shredders, presses, injection molding, etc.) and processes for plastic recycling.
