Hi.
Does anyone know why we use voltages which are multiple of 11KV and why we use 11KV in the first place. Talking about UK distribution in this instance. I read somewhere about form factor but I don't understand, the ratio of RMS to the Average value of the sinusoid doesn't mean anything to me!!
If someone can explain it for a dummy like me I would greatly appreciate it.

 

The ratio you mention is equal to infinity. So I certainly do not what you are talking about.

 

I shall simply pose a question rather than baffle people with additional information.
Does anyone know why we use 11KV and multiples of it (for distribution in the UK)? If you do please let me know why.
