Vcr drum to generator

Hi there I am trying to create a generator from a brushless vcr head using a controller to control the speed of the device so far I have removed the drum from the vcr and have found on the board that there are some large soldered connections labelled L1 to L4.
I have tried testing them with a voltmeter when I spun the drum, which showed a reading I have a motor controller a basic one from banggood which I would like to connect but I need help as I don't want to blow any components
