Hi
This is probably my first post here... I'm generally a prolific lurker with not much of a track record for participation.
The project is a camper van conversion.
I'm planing to use a 15VDC SMPS fed into a PWM solar charge controller as a backup to the solar panels.
I'm wondering about the SMPS being able to deal with a pulsed load such as the PWM charge controller that I intend to use.
If I just connect the power supply to the charge controller could I expect regulation issues, harmonics, ???
Would I have to add filters?
My first impulse would be to throw in some bulk capacitors, but that level of ripple current would surely shred any Al-electrolytic caps.
... and ceramic caps don't come big enough for this scale.
Perhaps a tuned LC filter like they use for isolating RF noise from power supplies?
Perhaps the inductor (transformer?) typically at a buck-mode SMPS output and regulator feedback will handle the current fluctuations?
Am I obsessing unnecessarily? Any insights would be appreciated.
The devices:
Meanwell RSP-500-15 AC/DC power supply
