I am wondering if the zigzag symbol represents resistor. If so, what value of resistor is that. I mean like 470Ω. And what battery do I need? Is 12 volt enough?

This is going back a way, but I used something like that before I got a phone line simulator at work.

I believe the resistor was 610 Ohms (the squiggly line) and it was something like a 1/2 or 1 watt resistor. 12 volts worked well enough.
