USB Power Switch

I am wondering about the function of USB power switch. We usually find them on the FPGA SOC boards and Raspberry Pi boards where we have USB port to attach a USB device like keyboard or a mouse. These USB devices need power and the power is provided by the host board though USB power switch.

The USB power switch similar to AP22653W6-7 can be used to provide power to the attached USB devices.

My question is if for some reason, we discover that on our host board, the USB power switch is broken then how to provide the power to the attached mouse or keyboard in the lab.

Is that possible to provide the power to the attached keyboard or a mouse with the external lab power supply set at +5.0 V with maximum current setting at 100 mA or 500 mA.

Exactly what I do if I don't want the USB to be plugged in...

I also use a USB_A connector to open-end wire to achieve same result - saves breaking out the PSU...

In your case you'll need a female part too to plug the device into... or just repurpose (break into) a normal male-to-female cable...
