USB Power protection

Hello all, my first post and question. My level of electronics is let say medium, but now I need advise:
I do a lot of programming with ESP32, Nano, ESP8266 etc etc. I use different Dev boards mostly external powered with 5V or 3V3.
I'm a little bit afraid that my PC/Laptop USB gets power back from the boards,...
Is this a good solution? ( see pic) or are there other solutions/ideas.

Thanks in advanced,
Cees.

If voltage drop or current limitations become a concern, you can test with alternatives like ideal diodes or powered hubs. For most cases, your circuit should work fine for ESP32, Arduino Nano, and similar devices.

Tanks for replying, with 'powered hubs' you mean just a simple external 1 to 4 USB hub? (why I didn't think of that)

Not quite. A powered USB hub is different from a simple (unpowered) USB hub. Unpowered USB hub Draws all its power from the USB port on your PC/laptop. Powered USB Hub includes its own external power supply. It supplies power to connected devices directly from the external power source, not from your PC's USB port.
