So,

I want to take this old pad I have and put an open source OS on it. This was originally a grab from Verizon by some one that i know for getting a hot spot. It is saturated in there branded copy of android. This thing just wont root with software so my plan is to just swap the Kingston chips out and pop some thing new in there with a open OS. Anyone see any other chips on there that could be locking this thing up. When jumping threw the android forums on this they vaguely mention flashing the e-prom.

If this is an e-prom https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EPROM

I don't see it on the board. I have other shots of the board if you want me to zoom in on anything.

So i guess where I will start is figuring out what each chip dose

Kingston chips are obviously memory

the large mediatek chip Is a processor

Smaller media tek chip appears to be a power IC
