Hi,

Does anyone have any idea what this is? It is built into the wall in a modern Spanish home. I suspect it is built-in home audio/video (or an amusing prank). Any help would be much appreciated!

This pic came from an alarm website, but l have no idea what specifically the 4 pin interface is used with. It's really strange to me that there's no obvious provision for orienting/polarizing the connection.

Are there threads around the outside of the connector?

If you measure the dimensions of the connector, you can compare them to the datasheet above.

Sure does!

A better pic, maybe with flash so we can see inside the connector, might help. As is, I don't see the part that would polarize it for the CB connection, but that might just be hidden in the shadows.

 

Something for size reference would help.

Dave's mic connector normally uses springy female contacts and solid male pins rather than split pins which are used with female contacts that are simple solid tubes.

The pin design and plating and the fact they are male pins suggests to me that it might be intended as an input for something that delivers moderate power - like the output of an audio amp. Unshrouded male pins are an invitation to short-circuiting which generally would make that connector unsuitable for an output for something.

Wow, if it is a CB radio mic style connection, good luck identifying the pins. Looks like there are at least three standards just for the 4-pin connectors!
