Can you do a Linux USB/CD live recovery boot and chroot to the Linux partition from the shell?

Thanks, my bad i had installed Ubuntu 24.04 and not 22.04 i did not do any upgrade , i installed updates from popped up ubuntu suggestion.
It doesn't matter what version. The possible recovery procedure is the same. I've never liked dual booting systems but I know it's a necessary thing.

Looks like there is a tool to help.

I don't run Ubuntu but I still run stock Debian on a few machines for Home Assistant and the rest run: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devuan
because I hate systemd.

Why? Did you follow @nsaspook's recommendation? What happened?
No; everything was find the way i did . I had 2 HDD 1 Disq 0 win10 the other Disq 2 Linux and grub manager and DVD drive . What i found out was that i was running in the Bios HDE instead of AHCI which i corrected by reinstalling Win but this time i only kept 1 HDD with win10 for now, that is a keeper till i get issues due no support cause i have some prog that only run in Win.

Is VMs free?
VirtualBox is free as in freedom (and also as in beer) except for the Extension Pack*.

There are certainly other VMs that are also free, but I don't use them so I cannot advise.

You still need a valid license for the Windows installation(s).

*Edit: The Extension Pack is free (as in beer) for personal and educational use.
