Type of LED?

In a surge protector, that I have, there's a wide LED. It looks like there are multiple LEDs (about 7) in the single LED.
What type of LED is this. I need to do some research on this type. I don’t know if the green LEDs are supposed to fade over time, when the joules decrease from surges? Why would 6 out of 7 green LEDs not even be lit up. I just received the surge protector two days ago. Since the green LED is not completely lit, like the red LEDs, it was already swapped out once from Amazon. Same exact situation, not all the green LEDs are lit when plugging in the surge protector. I then contacted the manufacture and received an excuse. "although consists of tiny LED bulbs, represents the status of the entire surge protector. It could be that the other green LED bulbs have gone out, and only one LED is left ON." Another excuse I got, when I called the manufacture, before emailing them, was "not enough things are plugged into the protector to light up all green LEDs."
Thanks in advance.

They sell LEDs in various sizes of rectangular packages:

Haven't seen any with 2 LEDs in them, but I don't think that matters in your case.

If the surge protector is out of warranty, you can test the LEDs in-circuit with a diode checker. If the forward voltage is too high, you can make your own with some batteries and an incandescent bulb. This one consists of 2 AA batteries and a flashlight bulb:

Bought it at Home Depot.

Slightly different take on the display: TO ME, it looks like a light bar (not a bunch of lights) with a single LED at the right end. When lit it casts its light over the length of the bar. In the photo it looks like most of the bar is dark with just the colored LED showing on the right side. I could be wrong. This is just my take on it.

First thought that comes to mind -- don't use surge protectors from that manufacturer. If they can't get their own LED circuits to work properly and reliably, what basis is there to think that their device is actually going to protect whatever you plug into it?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’ve used this brand in the past, but after noticing the LED issue and hearing your feedback, I’ve found a different brand after searching for the past few days. I didn’t mention the brand name at first because I’m not one to bash a company. However, if anyone wants to know, the surge protector problem is coming from Belkin. This is my thanks to everyone who replied—to help protect you too.

Did the manual say anything about what the green LED display is showing? I agree that it is likely a bar graph display. Perhaps it is indicating the total current being drawn, or even the highest voltage spike it has seen. Who knows?

That said, I don’t think it is broken, just ill conceived since it is not obvious what it ought to be showing.

Perhaps if you posted a link to the Amazon listing we could solve the mystery.

I still don't see a bar graph. Why would any manufacturer need a bar graph to show "Protected" and "Grounded"? I've never seen anyone offer a meter that shows the level of protection or grounding. If it's protected then isn't it Protected? If grounded, isn't it Grounded? I think it's just a plastic light pipe meant to conduct the color light across the bar. I know it has the appearance of a bar graph but a BG just doesn't make sense to me. True, this looks like a poor design. And I've used Belkin in a number of places but I don't recall ever having any issues with their products. Not endorsing them, just saying I've not come across a problem. Yet.

At the worst, unplug it, unscrew the back, remove the board and see if it is in fact a bar graph, or just two LED's on a PCB that line up with the edge of a plastic light pipe.
