Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!!

Hopefully a simple, no-brainer for the geniuses in the cloud... The suggested PCB pad layout for a LED I have to use is shown the diagram below. My question is why is there a single (large) pad for the anode and two (small) pads for the cathode?

Grab a coin battery (2032) and some wire. Make connection to the large pad and to one of the two small pads. See what happens. Then make the contact to the other pad. If nothing happens then reverse the polarity. If still nothing happens then try connecting one wire to one small pad and one to the other small pad. Reverse polarity and see what happens. I seriously doubt the coin battery is going to have enough power to harm your LED.
