I know why its a good idea to twist pairs of wire carrying a dc signal.

But ive seen top-end speaker(ac signal) cable pairs twisted, why?

I dont believe its a good idea to twist 50Hz mains L, N together?

Twisting a pair will make it less susceptible to outside noise.

It will also improve attenuation characteristics at higher frequencies, but I don't think this would apply to audio frequency.

Remember that much of what is sold in high-end audio is snake-oil.

Twisting a 50hz pair should have negligable effect.

 

I read a test comparing zip cord and monster cable and the zip cord did the same or even better at certain frequencies.
