Thanks Bernard

Will try tomorrow, but please check my connections!

I'm still struggling, because the switch get triggered erratically at some times. So I thought of trying the OPB365T. I quote this from another site:

Pin equivalents
OPB365T........OPB608A......(Function)
....1................3................Anode
....2................4................Cathode
....3................1................Collector
....4................2................Emitter

I am not really sure what wire should go to what pin. Is it possible to number them for me next to the sensor? (Does it start right top with nr 1 and then clockwise to nr 4 next to 1?) Remember James changed the numbering on the diagram

Thanks

Package " T '
3 upper left,black, = collector
4 lowerleft black , = emitter
upper right, clear = cathode LED
lower right, clear,= anode, LED

I'm only trying again today, but think I might connect the wires the wrong way, as the system was not working. This is definitely not my forte! Furthermore, I cannot read/understand the data sheet!

I have basically got 5 wires that needs to connect to 4 pins

Right lower is the longer pin.

These are my wires. Please in simple language just tell me what to connect to what pin.

Thanks!

1. Is the collector. This line is the signal.

1 (thru 100K). This is the collector bias. The end goes to the logic supply.

2. Emitter. Goes to circuit ground.

3. Attaches to the 5 volt supply. The 68 ohm resistor goes to the IR diode anode.

4. IR diode cathode. Goes to circuit ground.

Lines 2 & 4, 1 & 3 can probably be tied together.

I am really electronics illiterate!

To what pins on the IR detector should these wires connect?

1. Is the collector. This line is the signal. (upper left/upper right e.g.??)

Many thanks for the help

Back on pg. 19, reflective sensor, you list dark @ 1.5 mV, light @ 3.4V; what more could you ask for?, git rid of mouse and tell us what output signal is suposed to do.
On to pg 25 picture, top view, lead identification is from data sheet of OPB365T. What is the output suposed to do now that the mouse is flushed ? What voltages do you have available?

This is probably a dumb question, but why are you spending so much effort on building hardware to do this? Why not just project the 8 mm stuff onto a screen, then videotape it with a digital camera? I did that to get some digital copies of some old 16 mm movies.
