The heartless, it's not personal, computer is the devil. Not as a actual supernatural creature but as a force beyond our control to stop. Boeing was responsible for the MCAS computer that killed people. That computer is a just a bag of fancy hammers, humans were the root cause of those deaths.

Well that's drifting into philosophy, I mean it begs the question what is the root cause of humans, I mean if humans are stupid than to what can we attribute that? if a person does something because of stupidity or even malice, is that "their" fault or is it because something else caused stupidity, malice...time for a brew while I ponder this...

Humans mainly act stupid because they are lazy, like the universe. It's not philosophy IMO, it's conservation of energy and momentum.
