The KPMG study, published in Yale Journal of Industrial Ecology, concludes that the 1972 model was strikingly aligned with modern data. Without change, it says, global civilization is heading toward a freefalling economic decline in the coming decade, which could lead to societal collapse by around 2040.

I wonder what could be the reason?

No, the devil didn't make them do it. Incompetent human idiots was the root cause in the science fiction story and with the house. This is one of my favorite science fiction short stories - worth reading if you can get it.
Computers Don't Argue
I'm curious, where did this "devil" idea come into the discussion? No, the devil didn't make them do it. Incompetent human idiots was the root cause in the science fiction story and with the house.
The heartless, it's not personal, computer is the devil. Not as a actual supernatural creature but as a force beyond our control to stop. Boeing was responsible for the MCAS computer that killed people. That computer is a just a bag of fancy hammers, humans were the root cause of those deaths.I'm curious, where did this "devil" idea come into the discussion?
Well that's drifting into philosophy, I mean it begs the question what is the root cause of humans, I mean if humans are stupid than to what can we attribute that? if a person does something because of stupidity or even malice, is that "their" fault or is it because something else caused stupidity, malice...time for a brew while I ponder this...The heartless, it's not personal, computer is the devil. Humans mainly act stupid because they are lazy, like the universe. It's not philosophy IMO, it's conservation of energy and momentum.Well that's drifting into philosophy, I mean it begs the question what is the root cause of humans, I mean if humans are stupid than to what can we attribute that? if a person does something because of stupidity or even malice, is that "their" fault or is it because something else caused stupidity, malice...time for a brew while I ponder this...

Boomers to Gen Z.Jigsaw's findings offer a revealing glimpse into the digital mindset of Gen Z. Where older generations are out there struggling to fact-check information and cite sources, Gen Zers don't even bother. They just read the headlines and then speed-scroll to the comments, to see what everyone else says. They're outsourcing the determination of truth and importance to like-minded, trusted influencers. And if an article's too long, they just skip it. They don't want to see stuff that might force them to think too hard, or that upsets them emotionally. If they have a goal, Jigsaw found, it's to learn what they need to know to remain cool and conversant in their chosen social groups.
...
If this sounds like a generation that will believe any flimflam they encounter and never subscribe to a newspaper, well, the researchers at Jigsaw worry about that too. But the good news is, Gen Zers aren't seeing as much intentional falsehood as you might think. Research shows that most mis- and disinformation is being made and consumed by a dwindling minority of users who seek it out, not sprayed algorithmically into the eyeballs of credulous, internet-surfing teens. "Casual consumption of silly TikToks is very unlikely to lead someone into a dark corner of hate or misinformation," says David Rothschild, an economist at Microsoft Research who studies online behavior. "It is highly likely that if they get there, they chose to get there."

There is a deep disconnect in the art and entertainment world between the general public and the "experts" ...The same can be said for movies.
