Yes, we had several Wog officers like the guy in the sword picture being treated as a wog-dog by an enlisted seaman. They received no special treatment during the trial. In fact the list of transgressions were longer on the senior guys. The list for a ships Pollywog ship's Captain was a special case because he was first to be punished by the Shellback crew.
From EREBUS, the book I'm currently reading:

On 3 December 1839, Terror crossed the Equator ahead of Erebus. William Cunningham, who had never done this before, was, as a ‘greenhorn’, subjected to the ritual line-crossing ceremony at the hands of his fellow crewmen, dressed as King Neptune and his attendants, and duly recorded the event in his diary:

I was sat down on the Barber’s chair, and underwent the process of shaving by being lathered with a paint brush – and lather composed of all manner of Nuisance that could be collected in a Ship (not excepting Soil [excrement]). The fire engine was playing on the back of my neck the whole time with its utmost force. After being well scraped with a piece of an iron hoop I was tumbled backwards into a sailfull of water . . . and had a good sousing . . . after which I have the pleasure of seeing nearly 30 others go through a similar process.

I don't know what they will do if we have Interstellar space ships but I suspect there will be something similar.

The guy next to King Neptune (enlisted Chief) is one of his attendants, the XO, as the judge of who would be the 'Queen'.

Did the crossing off of Africa in the IO. We were young then and stupid.

Excuse me, but if the route I see drawn on the map was done counter-clockwise (that is, you sailed south from "camel crossroads"), then you crossed the equator just after sailing from Thailand.

Technically, yes but we were heading to GONZO station

for a 'secret' operation so we didn't have time then and the Straits of Malacca is not a place you want to have a 'party at.
Unless you live there.

King Neptune and his Queen hold court, and decide if the pollywogs can become shellbacks, or must go back for another round of the obstacle course.

We were heading to Africa after the official fun was over.

Maersk Opens Fire On Houthi Boat Swarm – US Navy Sinks Three

Today in the Red Sea, the crew of the Maersk Hangzhou took evasive action and opened fire on Houthi boats that were aggressively swarming the ship just hours after it was hit by an anti-ship missile. Helicopters from the USS Eisenhower responded and sunk three of the four attacking boats.

U.S. helicopters from the USS EISENHOWER (CVN 69) and GRAVELY (DDG 107) responded to the distress call and in the process of issuing verbal calls to the small boats, the small boats fired upon the U.S. helicopters with crew served weapons and small arms. The U.S. Navy helicopters returned fire in self-defense, sinking three of the four small boats, and killing the crews. The fourth boat fled the area. There was no damage to U.S. personnel or equipment.

In a statement following an earlier version of this post, Houthi spokesman, Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree said ten Houthis died in the attack.

“The American enemy forces attacked three boats belonging to the Yemeni naval forces, which led to the martyrdom and loss of ten members of the naval forces,” reads a translation of the statement posted on Telegram.
AND SO IT BEGINS...
The meetings have been scheduled.
