Target to close 3 locations in Portland

The company said that it's closing nine stores in four states for the same reasons: the three in Portland, two in Seattle, three in San Francisco and one in New York City.

"In this case, we cannot continue operating these stores because theft and organized retail crime are threatening the safety of our team and guests, and contributing to unsustainable business performance," the company said. "We know that our stores serve an important role in their communities, but we can only be successful if the working and shopping environment is safe for all."

Philadelphia Police have arrested at least 52 people — many of them teens — for looting several businesses Tuesday night, stretching from downtown to northeast areas of the city.

In what police say was a coordinated effort, dozens of thieves ransacked Foot Locker, Lululemon and Apple, taking thousands of dollars of merchandise and destroying property in the process.
