Every community has its share of "Crackpots" but it's a very small number. When those crackpots get online with global access, they have other communities' crackpots to resonate their twisted ideas on and it tends to amplify them. On the one hand, having global access to information at your fingertips is an enormous advantage to society but throw the tiny number of crackpots in who are now able to find others who support their twisted thinking and you have a disaster in the making. That is the "Dark Side" of the net. As to social influencers... LOL Nothing but a bunch of inflated egos of narcissistic egomaniacs. Saw a recent article pertaining to the new business of supporting influencers by leasing them a few hours of time to be photographed in private jets, expensive condos, rare and exotic cars, etc. to boost their influence over their minions as well as their bloated sense of self-importance. Weak and under-educated minds of their minions actually believe that crap!

This is why I don't hire family. No matter how much you love them, they're still unqualified for the job.

Oh, and firing them makes Thanksgiving dinner really uncomfortable.

 

Buddy of mine was a guitarist in a bar band. Coming back in the early morning hours from a gig he was asleep in the back of the car. Driver pulled into a driveway to take a nap and they heard Wayne get out of the car and thought he was taking a leak and went to sleep. Next morning Wayne woke up on the couch and sat up and there was a strange family at the table eating breakfast and staring at him. He made his quick apologies and left!

That's a rather sensible policy... truth being told, I've seen several family businesses that are highly disciplined and successful. I honestly don't know how they do it... I'd rather stick with the no family, no friends policy and avoid unnecessary risks, though
