The study also reveals that the bacteria can use manganese to convert carbon dioxide into biomass, a process called chemosynthesis. Previously, researchers knew of bacteria and fungi that could oxidize manganese, or strip it of electrons, but they had only speculated that yet-to-be-identified microbes might be able to harness the process to drive growth.

Most are pretty standard. Some I think they make up as they go along and not standard. I used to design a lot of industrial motor control circuits. Often interfaced with DCSs and PLCs which were my main focus in Process Controls. There are a ton of switch symbols, more than the typical toggle, pushbutton, NO, NC. Lots of pressure, temp, flow, level, limit, vacuum, etc. Also contacts of various types. In the older motor control circuits, there were a lot of Octal Socket Based Relays of all sorts of flavors with their own sets of special coils and contacts. Timers of all kinda, flip-flops, and sensor-driven often.
