One thing we learned by observation is all of our cats (four total) will do just about anything to get a green olive off our plates. Once they have one they take it somewhere to lick and lick and...

Apparently some chemical in the olive is an analog of catnip and it has the same effect.

Interesting. I assume the olive is pickled in brine?

Doesn't explain their taste for coffee, but from my experience cats really have a taste for salt. That's why some of them enjoy licking skin, the saltiness from human sweat tastes good to them. It's also why cat food is very, VERY salty (I hope I'm not the only one who's ever tried it :p).

No help here. Milk Bones are pretty good if you're 6 years old, except when you find a great, long hair in one. That was the day I quit stealing the dog treats. No taste of milk, just a lot of bland and crunchy. More like a lack of salt. I guess the manufacturing conditions for dog food aren't as strict as they are for people food.:(

Hello,

I have had a cat with diabetes.
The diabetes was caused by the frequent use of prednisolon.
Toto the cat in the avatar had diabetes and we had to measure the bloodsugars and give her insulin twice a day.
She also had a low carbohyrates diet to keep the bloodsugers in range.
After some time she did not need the insulin as pancreas made enough insulin.

For safety we checked the bloodsugar every week.

Griseldo is getting curious about our Christmas preparations... I hope he doesn't mess with our Christmas tree.... or else he's gonna face some pretty stern consequences.

My wife wanted to put up lights today but I still feel it's too early. I would rather wait until at least the first weekend of December before putting up the outdoor decorations, and the second weekend of December to put in the tree and inside decorations.

It sounds like you really like your Christmas celebrations to be meaningful.

My rule is the day after Thanksgiving is the start of the Christmas holiday season, and that Friday is a good and proper day to start decorations. It sure is for my wife who holds the contract to decorate Lincoln Hospital in NYC.

If I don't get our house lights up this weekend I will not have another chance till January, I've seen my work schedule for this month. Heck, I wrote the dang thing, I should have seen it.

Put the lights up in December and take them down before the end of July.
Somehow taking them down is not as satisfying.
