Am I to understand that you have a failed device that you are looking to find a replacement for?

If true, it also sounds like you are unable to discern the part number labeled on the device that has failed.

What information do you have, if any, on the device that failed?

Can you take a picture of the failed device and post it here?

Many modern DMMs have a transistor tester on them (at least the Fluke DMMs do). It's as simple as plug and test the device. Alternatively you can manually test it using the DMM: http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_3/chpt_4/3.html

Furthermore you can test a thyristor using an Ohmmeter: http://www.ab.com/support/abdrives/documentation/fb/1012.pdf. The principles are similar because of the similarities of transistors and thyristors: http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_3/chpt_2/11.html
