Yawning IS contagious. Even across species.

Last night (true story) my cat was laying in her heated bed with her paws hanging over the edge. Said "Look honey, she's hanging 10." Just as I was reaching for my camera (cell phone) she (the cat) gave a big old yawn. I fumbled and missed the shot. But I wanted to capture a yawn. So I deliberately made a yawning motion when we locked eyes. Two seconds later I snapped this picture:
