I had twelve bottles of whisky
...and my wife told me to empty the contents of each and every bottle down the sink, or else!
So, I said I would and proceeded with the unpleasant task.

I withdrew the cork from the first bottle and poured the contents down the sink, with the exception of one glass... which I drank.

I extracted the cork from the second bottle and did likewise with the exception of one glass... which I drank.

I pulled the cork from the third bottle and poured the whiskey down the sink, with the exception of one glass... which I drank.

I then withdrew the cork from the fourth sink and poured the bottle down the glass... which I drank.

I pulled the bottle from the cork of the next and drank one sink out of it and threw the rest down the glass.

I pulled the sink out of the next glass and poured the cork from the bottle. Then I corked the sink with the glass, bottled the drink and drank the pour.

When I had everything emptied I steadied the house with one hand, counted the bottles, corks, glasses and sinks with the other, which were twenty-nine. To make sure I counted them again... they came to seventy-four.

And as the house came by, I counted them again, and finally I had all the houses and bottles and corks and sinks and glasses counted, except one house and one cork... which l drank.

It can't be argued clearly either way Sam. It looks as though there was contact (to me). Watching the shadow of the Cosco (not Costco) appears to merge with the nose of the Cosco ship. The quality of the video is so poor it just can't be determined for sure.

I've seen long trains take quite a distance to stop. These big ships take way more distance to stop, and these were traveling very slowly. Can't begin to imagine the forces involved with all that kinetic energy.

The thumb rule for common vessels, fully loaded when proceeding full ahead is that to get them dead stop it would take a distance of about 7 times their length with engines full astern.

OK, good catch. It flashed so fast I didn't have time to look at it closely. Unfortunately I just assumed it said costco.
Cosco is a monstrous Chinese shipping company continuously improving the quality of their vessels (and their crew). Dare to say you could extend that to many other of same nationality.

Average, discipline on board is quite high and from a professional standpoint they are doing better and better.

Full astern. Would that be in horse power or in dolphin power? I wonder which is stronger. Maybe Orca power?
Plain old HP stated for each vessel loaded down to the summer draft for a certain RPM value.

Eventually you could exceed it just for a real emergency only.
In my case I did it twice while in an awful gale when leaving San Bernardino Strait.
