that may seem funny for some but i see it... differently... to me ridicule like this is result of ignorance (no offence Storm) and i am by no means MS fan.

maybe because i am old enough to call my first computer ZX81, which i had to solder myself. and i have been using computers and internet long before many members of this forum were born.

in my book, IE will always be a bright star even if i use other browsers these days. reason is simple, i remember time when there was only one browser, internet sucked and to get a browser, one had to walk into computer store spend $$$ to buy something, bring it home and install, enter activation key etc.

then the controversial browser war came along and - revolution (i LOVE competition...!).

yes the war was messy and there were blows below belt but - it was a war after all and - things have changed forever. one did not have to pay for browser any more, browsers got better and faster and one got a chance to CHOOSE! ....and... MS was forced to pay $$$$$$$ in penalties in Europe. btw IE was clear performance leader - for YEARS (at least until MS changed focus on other things). there was a time when using any other product (Netscape for example) was considered insane.

Today IE may not be performance king but it is not an underdog as suggested by that cartoon. just trying to be fair...

that was my $0.02

True... MS & IE had it's share of laughable bugs... So didn't they all at one time or another... This is THE prime reason the internet, or anything related should NEVER be taxed or regulated in any manner whatsoever.

That is entirely fair. There are certainly worse browsers out there, and before Chrome and FF IE was certainly at (or at least near) the top of the game. However, these days there are 5 main browsers that dominate the market: Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, and Internet Explorer. Of these five browsers, IE is definitely the underdog, in that it is, without a doubt, the absolute slowest.

Besides... I, at least, resent MS for its dirty practices when it introduced IE. Back then it behaved (and still does sometimes) as an opportunistic bully.

It may seem true but, I have been using web browsers since 1992 and before that, Gopher, from the U of Mn before that and all were great improvements in innovation and open source, free, and collaborative development and sound standards of HTML definitions. Then along came Microsoft. They suddenly appeared to move ahead of Netscape in performance until it was realized that their MS FrontPage used non-standard HTML code that caused Netscape to slow, not display the page correctly or simply lock up and crash. There is no way I would consider IE to be a superior product when it was playing with an unpublished advantage - incompatible tags.

By the way, I don't remember ever having to pay for a copy of Mosaic, Netscape, or other start-up browsers - just like Firefox and Chrome. all free except, in some cases, to businesses.

An Indian chief had 3 wives each of whom was pregnant. The first gave birth to a boy. The chief was so elated he built her a teepee made of deer hide. A few days later, the second gave birth, also to a boy. The chief was very happy. He built her a teepee made of antelope hide. The third wife gave birth a few days later, but the chief kept the details aecret. He built this one a two-storey teepee, made out of a hippopotamus hide. The chief then challenged the tribe to guess what had occurred. Many tried unsuccessfully. Finally, one young brave declared that the third wife had given birth to twin boys. 'Correct,' said the chief. 'How did you figure it out?' The warrior replied. 'It's elementary. The value of the squaw of the hippopotamus is equal to the sons of the squaws of the other two hides.'
