I think that there has been a movement in both Canada and the US for 'Real' beer, hence the popularity of micro breweries in both countries.
It is very similar to the brain washing of populations a few generations ago of that evil hoisted on the general population that there was nothing better than 'White Sliced Bread'.
At last I saw one man bakeries springing up in both UK and here, patronized by those that realized there was something better, or those that yearned for what they had experienced in their youth, I regularly visit a small bakery opened here by a recently immigrated German couple that bake real Bread in the old world style.

Excuse me. I have one On Topic which I received as an e-mail:

A young Arab boy asks his father "What is that strange hat you are
wearing?"

The father said: "Why, my son, it is a 'chechia' In the desert it
protects our heads from the intense heat of the sun."

"And what is this clothing you are wearing? asked the boy. This
long flowing robe?"

"oOh, my son!" exclaimed the father "It is very simple. This is a
'djbellah.' As I have told you, in the desert it is not only very hot,
but the sand is always blowing. My djbellah protects the entire
body."

The son then asked: "But Father, what about those ugly shoes you have on
your feet?"

"These are 'babouches' my son,the father replied. "You must
understand that although the desert sands are very beautiful, they are
also extremely hot. These babouches keep us from burning our feet."

"So tell me then," added the boy.

"Yes, my son?"

"Why are you living in Dearborn Michigan and still wearing all this?!

Hey... where do you think my best bbq ribs come from? :D:eek:

You are a movie buff. Main character was a black man (may have been Iced T). He was homeless (if I recall). He was invited to a hunting camp for a job. He did not know it but turns out his job was to be prey for a hunting party. What was the movie?

I'm not that much of a movie buff! ... only cannibal character that comes to mind is Hannibal Lecter ... and he's now turned into a pop culture cliché ...

3.2 beer???
Since no one has said it yet, this is also know as "near beer". When I was a kid the most popular 3.2 beer was Coors and it was only available west of the Mississippi. It's funny to remember all those vacationers returning home with cases of Coors. Now that you can buy it here, few do. That's human nature, to want what is unattainable.

To me and where I grew up.....near beer and 3.2 beer are two completely different things.
We lived in a dry state. All the different brand beers were 3.2.

Near beer is non-alcoholic.....like O'douls.

Huh, that's just "non-alcoholic beer" where I live. "Near beer" is just that, the weak stuff that is almost like beer. I suppose the meaning may be changing over time, since it's a cute phrase but there is no longer a 3.2 beer to use it on. Maybe the success of Lite beer also blurred the lines.
