There is an option in my PCB software, called teardrop.

This added extra traces to form a triangle to the pad.

What is the purpose of this?

 

It's designed to strengthen the point of transition from a thinner to a thicker trace to avoid stress cracks.

It's for mechanical durability, not electrical performance.
