My kid wants to buy my this t-shirt:

Thing is, I myself don't even know what it is! I see a transformer on the left, with an inductor connected to its center tap, then a halfwave rectifier... and on the right, a biased bipolar transistor with its gate decopuled by a cap... but what is the darn thing supposed to do? Or is it just useless gibberish?

He can get me one too. :)

What part of .... ratio detector with a paraphase amplifier ... don't you understand?
What part of .... ratio discriminator with a paraphase amplifier ... don't you understand?
What part of .... ratio detector with a phase splitter ... don't you understand?
What part of .... ratio discriminator with a phase splitter ... don't you understand?

or they only recognize it as a FM device ....

What part of ... FM detector ... don't you understand?
What part of ... FM discriminator and whatever the hell that last transistor does ... don't you understand?

I don't think of any joke using that schematic. The "I only give positive feedback." is a good play on the circuit. However, without the words, it'd wouldn't be humor.

Here's some humor ....

It might help some establish the relationship.

That t-shirt didn't establish a relationship. The "positive feedback" established a relationship.

And since the humor was readily available, you would place that relationship in the more retentive area of your brain, driven by the emotional response to the stimuli.

But what do I know, other than the empirical data demonstrating the retentive of information that is associated with an emotional response.
