Given a 6 pole, 60 Hz synchronous motor is operating at a developed power of 5 Hp and a torque angle (power angle) of 5 degrees, find:

a) The speed and torque (ft-lbs)?

b) What is the power if the angle is 7 degrees?

Any help would be great. I'm not sure how to treat the developed power since most formulas use the total power and the power losses are not provided.

Surely you can answer part (a)?

I's a 6-pole 60Hz synchronous motor - what is the synchronous speed? The synchronous speed value has an equivalent angular velocity value.

You know the developed shaft power is 5 Hp and presumably

Power = (angular velocity) x Torque

their is a formula for finding the synchronous motor speed it is as follows

Ns=120 * f/p

Ns= synchronous speed
f= frequency
P= number of poles
using this formula u can calculate the synchronous speed
