@panic mode i don’t agree that modulation is like distortion. Because distortion CLIPS the signal, modulation doesn’t.

 

"Distortion" includes a whole lot more than just clipping. Consider that anything aside from a perfectly increased waveform is distortion! and consider that sound without distortion would probably be quite boring, and probably not really music.
