supply 6 volt

this tiny barrel amplifier that fits neatly inline in a radio circuit needs 6 volt .
will 5 work if just a little less good? when the radio circuit is active what do you think will be the voltage? it amplifies things like radios or cell phones that have external antennas.
isnt the supply voltage just the max. voltage the designers could use that didnt overheat the circuit????:rolleyes:

We don't have enough info on this amp to answer your questions. Too little supply voltage will likely cause clipping. Is this an audio or RF amp? If RF, what is its frequency range & is it tunable or broadband? The operating voltage is the safe operating voltage, not the absolute maximum rating. What's the part number & who's the manufacturer for this amp?
