Heatsinks? I mean, how do you do something like that without knowing you are going to be heating things up dramatically?

Also, no current measurement? That's an odd omission.

He was using higher voltage than the capacitor rating but he was also monitoring it manually and could shut it off when it reached full charge. But think for a moment how much energy was being pushed into those caps. I wouldn't trust leaving them sitting open on a bench while doing that.

A catastrophic failure would require more safety equipment than just eye protection.
yeh but its no suprise to me, everybody knows diodes heat up when they pass current, same goes for resistors,

all he needs to do is put 10 in parallel then its perfectly fine.

What did he accomplish that was impossible?
He accomplished having to completely rewire a custom machine analog input section, he achieved specifying and ordering equipment not able to meet the requirements of an application, and he succeeded in going over budget on several jobs that had been quoted by engineers who understood exactly what was required, because they had done it several times before.
In short, while Jim Moore was able to get things done exactly as he wanted, none of them preformed as required.

This guy was no relation to that "Moore's Law" person, by the way.
