Hi everyone,

I've been trying to make backlit frames for some of my prints using a deep box frame and adding internal LED strip lighting around the inside rebate of frame. I have a couple of people who really like these sample frames made and would like to order but my samples are not professional enough to resell. The issue I have is I am using a 3 meter LED strip light with plug purchased from a UK supplier. When reselling electronics normally even if the item has a CE marking anything that needs to be plugged into a wall socket needs to be professionally tested before resale and it's put me off selling these frames in larger amounts should there be any demand. Therefore I've been looking into battery operated strip lights where I would need to solder the battery holder unit to the strip unlike the plug and plau which comes as one piece.

The issue I have is actually finding AA battery holders that I can glue or screw into the backing of the picture frame but allows the customer to switch on/off and remove the back off holder to insert batteries. All holders iv'e come across have a on/off switch on one face and the back slider of holder to insert batteries on the opposite side. This means you cant glue the holder onto anything as you can't insert batteries into if want the on/off switch to be used and vice versa. Is there any battery available that has the slider and on/off button on the same side so it can be glued down onto a surface or screwed into a surface?

Also if using say 1 meter of LED strip lighting how many many AA batteries would be required and also how many for 2 meters of led strip lights?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

.
This just cant be done with AA Batteries ,,, different strips demand different current so I can't give a definitive answer ... the batteries would only last minutes not hours .... try it .

Guessing about which LED strips you will use is no good. Please post a link to the details of the LED strips so we know their voltage (how many AA battery cells) and their current (how long AA battery cells will last).
Even if you use a certified DC wall adapter you need to know the required voltage and current.

You can buy strips 1, 2 or 3 meters with plug and dimmer already on .... CE tested , you are not changing anything , don't get bogged down in regulations ...what they gona do ????

Self adhesive strips like these consume between 10 and 40 W/meter depending on type ....

Typical AA Alkaline cell holds less than 2 WHrs , so if run on batteries the dimmest strip will only run for an hour on 6 cells
