I am designing a esp32 board and am using a AC multitap transformer with 15, 9 and 6 V secondary outputs. Just looking for some suggestion on whether I should rectify 15v and then use cascading switching regulator to get regulated 12VDC and 3.3VDC or is it better to use 15V TX -> Rectifier -> 12V reg and 6VAC tx -> another rectifier -> 3.3V LDO ? I things I am considering
1. Power efficiency (most important as the unit will be operational minimum 18 hours a day)
2. Circuit complexity
3. BOM cost.
Any suggestion will be much appreciated.
