Hello electronics freaks --- we were able to get a small lathe 600W /220VDC Motor, with brushes running at 5600 RPM - missing the motor controller.
Where can I find an affordable, robust controller for this lathe. There is no tachometer.
Thanks for some sensible advise.

OK, you have a brush type DC motor 220 Volts 600 Watts. How many wires exit the motor? The speed controller for the motor will depend on how the motor is actually configured.

it is a spindle motor .. with external gears driving the spindle .. there are only two wires to the motor. I guess it is a permanent magnet motor.

So KB make them that cover both wound and permanent fields.
If these are available where you are located, you may also find used ones.
The PWM are slightly more $$ but are the better choice.

I don't have much trust in the Ebay / Amazon electronic products. Is there a reputable supplier who might offer such a controller for less than $500 for a 600W 220VDC Motor?
