Is there any proof that man killed the large animals ,weapons found at the kill.
Some but the numbers are surprisingly low given the estimated numbers of each species of animal that would have been present at that time on a continental scale.

It's an even more questionable theory given that in those same timeframes humans themselves would have easily met what would have been considered by todays standards endangered species population levels.

Simply put there were huge numbers of these large animals but very very few humans in comparison during those time lines.

Isn't this thread blatantly about politics or am I missing something?

I'm genuinely asking here.
No, the intent of this thread was to collect predictions about which phrase would be used most frequently during the U.S. State of the Union Address.

I was going to drink a beer every time I heard the phrase middle class. From the word map image below, you can see I didn't have much fun.

The rest of the thread then strayed, like most posts in this category, Off Topic. It turned into bunch of earth science mumbo jumbo. Geology, biology, psychology - barely sciences. I don't think it went to a completely dark art - political science.

It is technically about politics, but so far I haven't seen any flaming or otherwise disallowed behavior. I'd say it's safe at this point, but that's just my own personal opinion.

The new middle class ,is the old middle class the way I see it with a few changes ,for now.

In the next two years we will see how people make out. One family member working for

the government for benefits and single parents working part time or off the clock. Some

doing contract labor ,a large number of people going for the new normal. This will change

maybe or expand. Can you see the 1% paying for this, sooner or later the numbers will

catch up. The payroll and tax deductions at the end of the year will make people pay

for what they get ,the insurance law will open the door and connect other things to

take your money.

HUH? I thought Geology and Biology were well defined and understood sciences.

Similar thoughts here as well. So far this has been a pretty mild coverage of the topics at hand. ;)

Not to mention that we have never been able to record with precision the way we do today. Nor did we have near the data points that we do today. I just cannot understand how any reputable scientist can ignore those simple facts.
...
Because they are not reputable, they are PAID.

Just like the doctor or sportsman on a TV commercial saying how really really good something is.

You pay, they say, and the idiots believe.

Let's talk about "warming" again in 1000 years after we have accumulated say... 1000 years of good data.

Until then let's just shut up the brainwashed idiots and stop blaming every new wind or storm event on man. When people were differently brainwashed they used to blame every new storm on God or demons or witches. Whatever.

That still happens today.

Or maybe we should shut up the brainwashed and arrogant idiots who ignore science and instead vomit words written by paid science illerate bozos, who are so arrogant to believe that nothing man ever does has any consequences to his environment. That garbage has been proven wrong time and time again.

We are in the generation of professors, that move on to think tanks and government

jobs. Some get high level positions ,all of this class lecture to students that have mind

sets to move up. They take field study jobs that expose them to big business and

pollution of the earth. Some move to big business and are taught the p.r. to take

back to think tanks on both sides. Somewhere in the mix the truth turns into words.

The words circulate back to another decade of professors and students ,so when a

100,000 gallons of chemicals spill. There is no problem to fall back on big business

And there statements on a smaller amount. They are trained that could happen

and look at the bigger picture of a clean up,doing the right thing. Filter out the info

thru think tanks and offical reports years later.Things get lost in time. How many

important things do you remember from the past and the real cure or correction.

Are you really so convinced that man has not made an impact on the earth that you would need a thousand (1000) years of data to motivate you to start talking about the subject!

N.A.S.A. receives a lot of dots, that is transformed to video ,just what if......

there was a bias point of view on the other end of the dots that liked a lot of color

to insure funding. I like watching there mars dots. The hockey stick looked good to me.

The fact that humans are modifying the planets climate is completely compatible with thermodynamics, the evolution of life and complexity in the universe as a whole. The changing entropy on earth by the use of higher temperature to provide useful work is not something that can be changed easily if human numbers continue to increase. Even if we create cleaner sources that reduce greenhouse gasses we will still modify the planets climate as we concentrate, store and use energy that would have normally been lost to space or sunk into natural energy traps. Overpopulation is the real target but it's taboo to talk about that (unless you are in China), so the proxy of 'climate change' is used instead. We have endless meeting about how to reduce the emissions needed to support our global population but have little to say about how to provide incentives to reduce population.

There is about 10'000 years worth of solid data trapped in the ice at the poles, which is measured and is a solid and proven technique.

Also, whoever said geology and biology aren't real sciences should probably give up using oil altogether, because guess who finds it. May as well never visit a doctor or use modern medicine again either. :p

Since the human population is the cause, who decides on who dies?

I know ... the politicans have such a great and impeccable track record on decisions for the common folk we should let them decide.

Why are we sitting in front of our computers bickering about something no one here is an expert in to others who also aren't experts in the subject matter? Everyone here is going off of evidence for or against human-caused climate change collected, analyzed, and validated by someone else.

I think global warming threads should be closed on sight.

The ToS allow for them and I'll let them be, provided that they remain civil and politics-free. This one is on the border of closure.

But my main comment is this: There's a global warming thread appearing every 4 months or so. More or less the same people participate, saying more or less the same things. Aren't you people bored and annoyed repeating the same things to the same audience?
