That's part of the good stuff I alluded to. ;)

It was hilarious on Big Bang Theory tonight. Sheldon got laid on the same night that the new movie premiered.

The local news in Altoona, PA interviewed a guy walking out of the movie, he said, "the movie was great but I rate the story line as a "light read"".

In spite of all the fans, comments and media hype, I still have no idea of the saga in question, and do not plan to watch any of the movies in a near future.

Could anyone of you tell a very short informal abstract of the story line? Other than Harrison I recognize nobody and put no efforts to learn more. This time I will skip Google.

If you're not interested, your not interested. Asking here for a summary of the story line of 6 movies and 12+ hours movie that, in itself is framed with a clear good vs evil but many uncertainties of personal histories, uncertain motivations of individual players, and uncertainties in relationships (familial, romantic and political). Those uncertainties and each viewer's assumption to fill in the gaps in the plot line will make each person's explanation of the movie series slightly different.

There are plenty of examples of parallel stories but, generally it takes place a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away. In an era where space travel is common and some people, Jedi, are able to capture an inner force to control objects or people around them or 'see' the future. Some use the force for good, some for evil. Armies are amassed, fighting, plot twists of surprising relationships and uses of "the Force".

The movie has permeated pop culture and phrases and references to this movie pop up in conversation or to describe other things quite often, so, if you have time between ports, you might want to view at least the first three movies from 1977 - 85 era. The three more recent ones (actually prequel to the original trilogy) are not so interesting. And, not necessary to the plot line of the newest one as far as I've heard.

Honestly, I suggest you watch them for the sake of education if nothing else. Start with Episode 4, 5, and 6, then watch the (awful yet somewhat necessary) prequels 1, 2, and 3. You'll be lost in today's world if you refuse to watch them.

The radicalization of Luke Skywalker.

"Do those look like the eyes of a sane and rational man to you?"

Obi Wan — a religious fanatic with a history of looking for young boys to recruit and teach an extreme interpretation of the Force — is practically salivating when he stumbles upon Luke, knowing he’s found a prime candidate for radicalization. Stahelski notes terror groups place a focus on depluralization, stripping away the recruit’s membership from all groups and isolating them to increase their susceptibility to terrorist messaging. Within moments of meeting Luke, Obi-Wan tells Luke he must abandon his family and join him, going so far as telling a shocking lie that the Empire killed Luke’s father, hoping to inspire Luke to a life of jihad.
Obi Wan even turned a drug ("spice") smuggling gun fighter into a terrorist.

True; just intrigued. No point in starting a learning session about it.

Gracias Gopher for that abstract.

All what I perceive about it, nowadays, and for about the last 24 years is basically through the Web. I know that things locally are somewhat less relevant but young people recognize ideas and characters easily.

I understand what you say Matt, but in view of my priorities in life which is certainly closer to to the end than to the start I have a long list of things that would led me to feel lost as well.

Hola nsaspook,

Too much reading, well, watching needed to make sense of many things.

When I was a really young kid I fancied of one day being able to know everything and started to read madly whatever came in my hands. While I quickly realized the nonsense I kept collecting information (and to a point successfully finding relationship between concepts, ideas and facts).

But lately, I started to lighter my backpack or just leaving less relevant things behind. Hope that Aloysious Alois does not come to help in the ultimate offloading.

Gracias to you all for taking the time to reply and enjoy that new movie!
