and yes lol i do know what happens when you connect a switch directly accross a battery ever jammed two 9v together? lol child mischeif dangerous way to learn i know...

 

Why is the "micro" relay so huge that its coil draws 89mA? A brand new 9V alkaline battery with a suitable resistor can power it for only about 1.5 hours then the voltage from the battery will be too low.

I used a 5V/6mA relay a few years ago. It was micro and had contacts rated for 120VAC.

 

I don't need it to last for long just enough to ignite fireworks . in my final project i will order diff relays probably , but i just got what radio shack had in stock for my experiment.

 

was the relay you used a reed relay ? here is a link to the one i used from radio shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062480 . I debated on which one i should get.
