Sound Module Volume

I thought the blast from the tank is not supposed to sound like the click of a lighter.
That's what he would like to fix.
My 3" computer speakers are in pretty big enclosures, have pretty big magnets and are driven with 3.5W each. They can make the sound of a tank blast very well.
Space and power is a problem inside the model tank.
Were there more room, a butane cylinder, some PVC pipe, timed valve, and an ignition system would make for a very convincing simulation - complete with flames.

Just think how good the realism will be if some smoke is added to each blast.
That would be neat, but the EPA frowns on such things.
I have seen toy trains with smoke.
I used to have a Lionel steam engine with smoke. However, it was a white smoke. A small white pellet was placed into the smokestack, which had a Nichrome heating element on top of a pump-type device. The movement of the con rods moved a lever which pumped air in and out of the smokestack, past the melting pellet.

The smoke from the 88mm gun was probably more gray to black in color.

Hey Friends,

The tank has a smoke system for the engine. It uses a thin oil and a pump to smoke through the exhausts. It works okay but the nichrome wire burns out often. There is a new proportional system that works pretty good also.

No the cannon is not supposed to sound like a lighter, and you can barely hear the recorded soud I have for the cannon blast. The voice recording is operated bythe same type module but the volume on that unit is just terrible.

I also thought that when my tank commander moves it was tripping the cannon sound, however I found that that is not the case and I have no ideawhy the TC commander is activatingthe cannon module.

Hey Sarge the sound for the engine comes from the control board installed by MATTORO TOYS (the folks that build the tank). I will contact Matto and get the drawings of the circuit. I'm working with them on a model tank for release next year. It will be the Pz38t Ausf. B.

Thanks everyone! You guys are really top shelf.

Ugg. thats not good.

I have a question. Did you pull the audio clip into a sound editing software and 'normalize' there is a process called compression (not like zip or mp3) that helps fill the bandwith with by working with the amplitudes. It helps make the sound as full and loud as it can be with out clipping.

I have a feeling your two audio files are at completely different levels. If you are using the same sound module the same way, the sounds should have the same volume.

I would check the sound files. The commander is nice and loud, so there is no reason the gun shot is not more pronounced. I think there is a need for an mastering session on your recordings. ;)

Retched!

You did it. Why am I such a dunderhead at times. It was exactly the problem. The tank Commander voice was indeed run through on Audacity. I ran the cannon through and BINGO!

Okay now for a small full action motion picture. Standby guys! hehehehe
