I'm trying to surpise my husband gor his birthday with a modded N64. One mod I'm tyring to do is to add a start up chime to the power switch. So that way when he turns it on, it okays a song. I followed a YouTube video and wired it exactly as the person does in the video. He was able to make it work, I can not. In fact as seen in the photos I attach I can only make it work when I touch the wires leading from K1 to Grd. It does not work when I have then soldered in. I'm a novice at this, and I can't figure out what I did wrong. Mine is wried as the youtuber wired his, but mine does not work. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Its,
It is most likely the K inputs are Low going Edge triggered, which means they have to be momentarily connected to 0V/Gnd.
That's why it works when you just touch the K wire Onto 0V

A permanent soldered joint will not work.

Do you have any idea of how I can wire it so that it's triggered when I turn the 64 on?

hi its,
A local electronic repair man would be able to fit that circuit for a small cost.
It's a bit too far for me to make a house call. :)
