What if we find the magnitude of earthquake and if we a create a machine to send seismic waves opposite to the coming waves towards us.. There might be a great destruction or if we find a way to suppress the wave by sending some kind of wave towards it. Just like stopping a fire in the forest.

 

The energies involved are greater than the biggest H bomb we have ever built.

 

synchronisation would be immensely difficult too.. if the waves didnt hit at exactly the same point, with the peak and trough timed perfectly.. it wouldnt stop the wave.. and like bill says, creating something with that much force would be huge, and probably just increase probability of earthquakes elsewhere
