The reason that isolating the receiver would be required would be if the two used the same power supply, or had some other connection between them. That could result in an unintended connection being created between the two power connections.
That would be in the class of "unintended results", and that might be unfortunate.
In this particular instance, if the receiver had been powered from the same 12 volt battery, and the six volt output included one side connected to the 12 volt supply negative side, it could have resulted in a connection from the 12 volt positive to the 12 volt negative, thru the receiver assembly.
BUT, if the two are powered separately, no problem.
