Hello,

We have a project, we need to construct a solar inverter. The goal is to have achieve MPPT to get the highest efficiency. The output of the solar panel is 12V 20Wp. A constant DC output has to be achieved (of approximately 20V). How can this be done?

Thanks

Why do you want to involve an inverter if your desired output is DC? Perhaps it's just the wrong word choice - "inverters" are usually used to produce AC.

You just need a DC-DC converter with ratings compatible to your project. You can buy these on eBay very inexpensively. If you want to build your own, there are dedicated ICs for exactly this sort of application (variable voltage input, constant output).

Since you want 20V out from 12V in, you'll want a boost converter. The other kind is a buck converter, which you would choose if you had for example a 20V panel and wanted 5V output. Some converters can do both, but I can't see why you'd need anything other than the boost.

Yes i do need to go to AC eventually, but for a part of the inverter i need a DC-DC converter. I also need to build it myself instead of buying it.

In that case I'd start shopping for boost converter ICs. I know Texas Instruments has a range of them but the other big chip houses must as well.
Thanks.
The problem is that the solar panel has no fixed impedance. I want to get the highest efficiency and thus the load impedance must he equal to the solar impedance (variable). How can this ben achieved in the best wat?
