SMD component identification

Hi,

My first post here. I promise I've exhausted all resources I know of for answers. Hopefully somebody here can help!

I've attached photos of three components I am trying to identify, and a couple of datasheet pages. Here's what I know so far:

Obviously the 4LD is Microchip, and I've learned the part number is 24LC256 as per the attached datasheet page. But I cannot figure out what the other numbers mean, and what the specific version is of this part.

The closest thing to SBUR that I have found is SBU per the attached data. It's the correct case size, but that's all I know.

I cannot find a single thing about the GYD3 component.

Any help at all will be hugely appreciated!

Thanks,

Troy

Hi @birdtrick,
That can be incredibly frustrating. And sometimes it is impossible to identify the component by the top-side markings alone -- especially when manufacturers use them for date or lot codes.
A couple of options to try:
1) See if you can't track down a recent edition of the SMD code databook -- it sorts chips by their top-side markings.
2) You've identified the EEPROM is from microchip -- give their tech support an email or phone call.
3) Search digikey/mouser/etc... and drill down on the packaging and what you think the part is. GYD3 looks to be a 5-lead Sot-23. What is it electrically connected to? Is it functioning as a voltage regulator or something else --
4) Is the product protected by patent? If so you can use google to pull up the patent and sometimes get a schematic with the part clearly identified.
5) Try Alibaba -- Find a distributor of microchips there and ask them. I've gotten lucky there a time or two, with the added bonus that you've now found a supplier for your replacement chip once it's identified.

Good luck! Sorry I don't know what those chips are -- but I'm guessing there's someone around here that will!

Thanks Mark! These are the last three (two really) of six components that I couldn't easily identify, and it took almost all day to figure the other three. Next step is Alibaba..

Cheers,

Troy
