so measuring from a common point looks accurate enough for me.

It all depends upon the desired accuracy of the resistance measurement, and the accuracy/resolution of the voltmeter.

 

The voltmeter is a calibrated Fluke portable multimeter. The resistance measurement as I said is more of a degradation measurement, so it'll be fine!

Depends upon how much degradation you want to detect, 0.1%, 1%, 10%....

 

For simplicity, let's say wires. It's easier.
