It's preferred to upload files to the AAC server so that they are archived with the post and therefore still available down the road long after whatever third party side they would otherwise have been on has folded.

Alright, done. Is there any way to adjust the size of the image displayed so that it won't cause lag to users viewing it?

Edit the image so that it is a reasonable size to be displayed. I wouldn't use anything more than about 500 pixels wide unless there's a very good reason.
