The opamp being powered by 5 would mean that the output can only swing to it. Isn’t that correct.

Ah yes your talking about the inverting and noninverting puns which are limited by the power rails.

That said would it be ok if the voltage on the opamp fluctuates as the battery voltage changes or is a down scaling better and keeping it at 5.0 better ?

 

I get the results as expected using LTspice but that is specific to there brand. how different would it be when using MIC6270YM5-TR
