It works.
But it can’t test anything a a very high current (but that’s obvious from the size of battery it uses)

I think it’s just sold by Velleman, if you enlarge the picture, you can see the Peak logo.

 

Thoughts on the Velleman DCA55?

It's okay if you need to do those types of tests for simple semiconductors.
Why do you think you would want it?

 

Idk. Probably don’t need it. Just thought it looked cool for the price.

 

This product was introduced several years ago. If you do an internet search you’ll find several reviews: namely it is a clever concept with some very nice software, but its voltage/current capabilities are way too low to test anything but small signal transistors and diodes, and even those, only at the lowest levels.
In plain English, not very useful.

Reviewers and users unanimously expressed their hope that a higher powered version should be introduced in the future.
But alas, Peak Instruments has not come out with such a version.

 

I bought mine because at the time I was doing some vintage circuits with germanium transistors.
